Our Setting

The nursery is held in a purpose built building. This is a 10m by 10m demountable building, offering a good amount of space for the wide range of activities we provide. We have double doors leading to an outside play area with a canopy for all weather play. This leads onto a grassed area which is fenced, separating our outside space with the Primary school, creating a safe space to play in. We also have a large summer house which has been turned into a sensory sand room providing an extra space for learning and SEN activities.

In our outside play area we have a mud kitchen/area, balancing equipment, a large curly slide with climbing wall and ladder, as well as a play house.

Indoor Environment

Our bright indoors environment offers a wealth of fun and learning opportunities for all of the children.  We have tables for arts and crafts, a home corner, large toy and construction area, transport toys and a separate room for games and activities. We also have a fish tank that the children enjoy watching and looking after.

Outdoor Environment

Leading out through the double doors is a wonderful outdoors area. We have a mud kitchen area, a space for zooming around on bikes, a large climbing area, benches and a arts and crafts space. We love getting outside at every opportunity we get and the children love playing, exploring and learning in this space.

Mud Kitchen

The Mid Kitchen is always busy at Wistanstow Under 5s. We love combining different things from the garden to make a variety of different potions and pretend food. Its a great sensory experience for children and an opportunity to work with others to achieve a goal.

Sensory and Sand Room

Also in our outdoor space we have a large sand and sensory room. This is perfect for digging, creating and building activities. The children love this space and have great fun exploring the sand and resources.

Local Area and Community

Wistanstow is a small village just outside of Craven Arms in Shropshire. We are fortunate enough to be surrounded by countryside in all its beauty. We have farms, churches, village halls and lots more to explore and go and visit.

Forest School Area

We are fortunate enough to have access to a fantastic Forest School Area that is just a short walk away. The children all really enjoy these visits and it provides a wealth of learning opportunities and the ability to connect with nature.
